In this master project I explored new methods to work on Joseph Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 2 in D. Major Hob.VIIb:2. The piece is written for solo cello and an

In this case, it was many years later, for this music was lost for almost exactly two centuries before it was discovered in 1961 in the Raden?in Castle collection, which had been deposited in the Czech National Library in Prague. Valter Dešpalj, professor at the Zagreb Academy of Music, has written cadenzas for Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 1 in C-Major that add much-needed variety to the cadenzas we typically hear. The following is a partial list of concertos by Joseph Haydn (1732–1809). In the Hoboken catalogue of Haydn's works, concertos for most instruments are in category VII with a different letter for each solo instrument (VIIa is for violin concertos, VIIb is for cello concertos, etc.). Three cello concertos were associated with Haydn's name: the well-known concerto in D Hob.VIIb:2, another concerto in D Hob.VIIb:4, and a concerto in C Hob.VIIb:5. The first is now known to be a genuine work of Haydn's although this attribution was not universally accepted in the nineteenth century.
